Anselmo
Hot air balloons can be seen overhead during
Anselmo's Big Sky Jubilee in June. A popular recreation area near Anselmo
is Victoria Springs State Recreation Area. Victoria Springs is the third
oldest park in the Nebraska Park System, with over 35,000 visitors every
year. The 70-acre park is named for the mineral springs that run through
it. Camping at Victoria Springs is a real treat, with a stocked lake,
paddle boats, modern restrooms with showers, and meticulous upkeep by
a top-notch crew. Just past Anselmo, the famous Sandhills come into view.
The Sandhills of northwestern Nebraska is one of the greatest cattle grazing
ranges in the world. Dotted with numerous lakes, the region produces thousands
of beef cattle per year. Perhaps the most unique feature of the entire
trip, the Sandhills is so awe inspiring that it instills a deep sense
of pride and protection in the residents of the area.
