Broken Bow
The most recognizable feature here is the 100-year-old bandstand in City Square Park. The Tom Butler Memorial Bandstand plays host to weddings, birthday parties, and homecoming pep rallies. The park is surrounded by the main downtown area with several of the buildings from the 1800s still in use. The Arrow Hotel, Custer County Courthouse, and former Security Bank Building are listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places. An extensive collection of pioneer photographs from Solomon Butcher can be found at the Custer County Museum, as well as a cutting-edge research center for genealogy. Butcher is credited with recording much of life on the high plains, especially in Nebraska during the latter part of the 19th century and early part of the 20th century.

Broken Bow is home to the Custer County Fairgrounds, a premier facility for all types of horse events and rodeos. Participants at the Nebraska State Barrel Horse Futurity, USTRC Team Roping Championships, and Roping Clinics by Paul Tierney, a world champion cowboy, have all bragged about the modern horse barns and indoor arena. The River City Roundup Riders always enjoy their stay as they ride from Ogallala to Omaha in September.
Adams Land and Cattle Co., with farming, ranching, and feedlot operations, employs close to 200 people. It is the largest family-owned cattle feeding operation in the world. The feedlots are state of the art, and the computer technology and animal research used at the facility are phenomenal. A buffalo ranch just outside of town completes the Old West setting. Pressey Wildlife Management area on Highway 21 features deer, pheasant, quail, grouse, and wild turkey.
