Thedford
Thedford is located in the heart of the scenic Nebraska Sandhills. The western edge of the Nebraska National Forest is just east and the Middle Loup River flows through Thedford and parallels Highway 2. A state historical marker of the Sandhills is located 1.5 miles east of Thedford. Gaston Road, three miles east of Thedford, is a scenic road that provides a close look at the Sandhills and the National Forest and a chance at seeing a variety of wildlife. The High School Rodeo is the first weekend in June and the Thomas County Fair is the last weekend in July.

Many ranches and ranch activities can be seen from the highway. In the spring, don't be surprised to see ranchers driving cattle to summer pasture along or across the highway. In the summer you can expect to see ranchers busy putting up hay on the meadows along the river.
